Preparations and Pillow Books
"Ma wants me to go shopping with her. Mike, do you want to come with?"
He looks up from his game of Age of Empires. "Not today, pumpkin'."
"Okay, no problem. Was just wondering if you wanted to go."
So, I sat by the window anxiously awaiting her arrival.
We went to Linens and Things, a store that sells home accessories and appliances. I had to return some valances that I purchased a few weeks ago. Since the cold weather has set in, Mike and I decided to buy ourselves some drapes to help the drafts and to spruce up the place a bit. I bought "fun" curtains for my study and fancy curtains for the living room area. I couldn't believe that Mike and I had similar top choices. I've been generally dreading the "let's decorate together" times since moving to our new place. I've learned that, atleast visually, I believe that Mike and I have very different tastes.
Once we got back home again, we realized that the valances were extraneous and, at $20.00 a pop, we could use the extra money to buy the two panels that we forgot to purchase, believing our living room had only two windows. Actually... to be completely honest, I remember that the living room had three windows. One just had an air conditioner in it and I thought that Mike wasn't considering buying curtains for it because of the air conditioner. I decided not to say anything that day because I was kind of flighty at the time.
